Bulk auto-assigning batches through Shopify

To assign batches to many orders at once, select the orders in your Shopify admin and choose Auto-assign batches in Freshly. Freshly assigns batches to each order using First-expire, First-out (FEFO) or First-in, First-out (FIFO). This is most useful when you have turned off automatic batch assignment in Freshly.

When to use this

By default, Freshly assigns batches as soon as an order is created or updated in Shopify. If you turned this off (Freshly Preferences > Order fulfillment > Enable auto-assignment of batches to customer orders), new orders arrive without batches. You can then assign batches when you are ready to fulfill, either in bulk from Shopify or automatically with Shopify Flow.

Turning auto-assignment off is available on the paid Freshly plan.

Enabling auto-assignment of batches to customer orders

Bulk auto-assign from the Shopify orders list

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Orders.
  2. Select the orders you want to assign batches to.
  3. Open More actions(...) and click Auto-assign batches in Freshly.
  4. Freshly opens and shows "Assigning batches to selected orders...". Assignment runs in the background, so give it a moment, then check the Orders page in Freshly.

Line items that already have batches keep them. Line items without batches get batches from the earliest-expiring stock (or oldest received stock if there are no expiry dates). Learn more in Fulfilling orders using FEFO and FIFO.

Assign batches automatically with Shopify Flow

If you'd rather assign batches at a specific point, such as when an order is paid or fulfilled, use the Freshly action in Shopify Flow.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Flow.
  2. Click Create workflow.
  3. Click Select a trigger and choose an order trigger, for example, Order paid or Order fulfilled.
  4. Click + > Action and choose Assign batches to order in Freshly.
  5. Name the workflow and click Turn on workflow.

The Flow action assigns batches even when auto-assignment is turned off in Freshly. If an order hasn't finished syncing to Freshly yet, Freshly retries shortly after.
