How app subscription charges work

Shopify bills you for Freshly as part of your regular Shopify bill. Each app subscription runs on its own 30-day billing cycle, separate from your Shopify plan's cycle, so app charges can show up on a bill even if you uninstalled the app recently.

Freshly plans

Essential: free, for up to 10 batch-tracked products.
Freshly Pro: $24 USD per month.
Freshly Advanced: $89 USD per month, for stores on the Shopify Advanced plan.
Freshly Plus: $199 USD per month, for stores on Shopify Plus.

Freshly offers the paid plan that matches your Shopify plan. To upgrade, go to Preferences > Subscription in Freshly and click View plans. To cancel, go to Preferences > Subscription and click Cancel subscription. If you cancel, your custom packing slip template is removed, and the default template is used again.

How Shopify and app subscription charges work

Shopify invoices your Shopify plan every 30 days, in advance.
Each app subscription has its own 30-day cycle, which starts on the day you approve the charge.
When you approve an app charge, it's added to your next Shopify bill, or billed earlier if you reach your billing threshold.

Because the two cycles don't line up, one Shopify bill can cover an app period that overlaps two of your Shopify periods. For example, if your Shopify bill is due on May 5, it covers app subscriptions from April 20 to May 20. The next bill on June 4 covers the app from May 20 to June 19.

To see your current app charges, go to Settings > Billing in your Shopify admin.

Uninstalling an app with recurring charges

Uninstalling stops future billing cycles, but a charge that was already generated for your upcoming bill can still appear. If you uninstall a few days after approving the charge, you may still see a charge on your next bill, because the charge is tied to the start of the app's billing cycle, not to the day you uninstall.

Upgrades and downgrades

Upgrade: Shopify prorates the price difference over the days left in the cycle. For example, if you move from a $5 plan to a $15 plan halfway through the cycle, you pay an extra $5 for that cycle.
Downgrade: Shopify gives you an application credit for the price difference over the days left in the cycle.
